While the stock market may generally be going strong, it appears the economy may well be f—ked: Just ask Dacé, a sex worker at a Nevada brothel.

“We are going into a huge recession.” she began her now-viral clip. "We just got out 1099s back, I’m gona show you what a bad year at the Mustang Ranch looks like."

@modernworkinggirl I wish more independent contractors would share exactly what they make! Having open financial & economic discussions makes us all that much more educated when making life decisions, and exposes discrepancies that would otherwise go unnoticed! #fyp #finance #independentcontractor #explorepage #explained #income #work #job #career #money #storytime ♬ original sound - themodernworkinggirlofficial

Though her check was admittedly impressive, her taxable earnings coming out to $94,356, that number, Dacé said, heralded economic trouble on the horizon.

“That is not what it should have been,” she continued, explaining that back in 2022, she brought home “$256,000 over a 22-week period,” a sum that equates to $11,600 per week.

“This year, in 2023, I worked 15 weeks. At that same rate, I should have made $174,000 but I made $94,000 so that is a 64 percent drop in income,” Dacé noted. “That is a massive drop in income.”

While fortunately, Dacé was able to make her bills with roughly $20,000 leftover — “Always live your life like you’re the only one paying bills and you’re the only one that’s gonna have your back,” she advised her viewers — this drop may serve as a sign of something more ominous.

Sex workers have long served as the canaries in the coal mines of economic shifts according to experts, meaning a major downturn is on the way. But who knows — maybe stingy men are just being stingy.
